How did your creative journey begin?
I've had a тяга to drawing since early childhood — it all started with attempts to copy illustrations from books, such as «Alice in Wonderland», «Life of Animals», «Tales of Mother Goose», and the like. Oddly enough, it was black-and-white graphics and realism that interested me.
Unfortunately, in childhood, although my hobby was praised, no one took it up in a practical sense, and I began to study drawing professionally only in high school, in preparation for admission to the Moscow Architectural Institute.
What do you like most about drawing?
Despite the fact that a significant part of my activity is related to modeling, I gravitate towards different areas of visual arts — these are classical drawing and graphics, painting, and 3D modeling. The study of modeling has improved my spatial thinking, analysis of anatomy and plasticity, which has influenced my work in flat 2D formats. Overall, I love to come up with characters.
And in teaching — what do you like the most?
I like the process of transitioning from a difficult-to-grasp and intuitive plane to a simple logical one. I like to watch how students, like me once, begin to see facets and details in the familiar world that they didn't even suspect existed before.
Teaching drawing is a legal and harmless way to truly expand consciousness, and it's great to be able to share it with other people.
