The curators of the 2D graphics course have prepared for you a simple but useful tutorial on drawing wood material.

To make the tutor look more cheerful, and at the same time you could analyze not only the materiality, but also the shape of the object, we chose this nut as an object.

Bonus – we show you brush settings, tell you what blending modes you’ll need in your work.

Course of Work:

1. Make a line sketch, building up the shape coverage

2. Specify the lane, designate the texture pattern

3. Select the primary and secondary color

4. Fill the shape using the Lasso tool

5. Draw shadows in Multiply layer mode using a soft brush and Lasso.

6. Add the texture pattern on top of the fill layer (under the shadows)

7. Add light on a separate layer in Soft Light mode

8. Draw a glare on the illuminated part in Screen mode, finalize the texture in Normal mode

9. Add contour light in Color Dodge mode. To enhance the glow effect, use the Outer Glow feature in the Blending Options panel.

10. The job is done!
