- If a portfolio is the visual part of your presentation as a specialist, then a resume is an explanatory note, but it is no less important for recruiters. Therefore, I recommend editing your resume for each specific vacancy so that it fits the position as much as possible. A recruiter allocates up to 10 seconds to one resume, and your task is to have time to catch his attention with the necessary information.
- Write no more than one page, dry and clear. Specify your name, city, education and contact information. For a photo, choose a portrait to the shoulders on a monochromatic background.
- If you have experience in game development, describe it. If not, then list relevant experience in participating in projects. These can be personal projects, projects with a group of enthusiasts, freelancing, assets for sale on different platforms. Specify the name of the project and what you were responsible for.
- List your hard skills, that is, what you can do and what programs you are familiar with. Do not write soft skills like responsible, competent, friendly — give the recruiter the opportunity to make these conclusions later, at the interview.
- Attach a cover letter to your resume — a short message addressed personally to the recipient. In post-Soviet countries it is not very common, but it is another opportunity to attract attention to your candidacy.
- In the cover letter, tell us where you found the vacancy, why you want to work именно in this company (interesting projects, similar values, a comfortable and familiar environment, etc.), how you will be useful, what skills you want to improve, you can mention your career plans.
